2020년 10월12일 쿠팡 칠곡물류센터에서 1년 4개월간 일하다 숨진 장덕준씨의 어머니 박미숙씨가 쿠팡 내부 자료를 제보한 전 CPO에게 편지를 썼다. 2025년 12월21일 전 CPO가 한국 내 변호인을 통해 “뒤늦게 사건의 내막을 밝히게 된 점에 대해 죄송한 마음”을 전한 데 관한 답장인 셈이다. 박씨는 전 CPO 바다이야기디시 의 제보 덕분에 “아들의 죽음에 얽힌 진실에 그 어느 때보다 가깝게 다가가고 있다고 느낀다”라고 말했다. 그는 전 CPO에게 아직 공개되지 않은 진실이 있다면 알려줄 것을 간곡히 요청했다. 미국인인 전 CPO가 읽을 수 있도록 영문 번역본도 함께 전달됐다.

제 아들 장덕준은 2020년 10월12일 오전 6시경 일을 마치고 집에 돌아와 욕실에서 숨진 채로 발견되었습니다. 2020년 10월13일 대구물류센터 인사 담당자 ○○○의 미심쩍은 장례식장 방문 이후, 유족들은 경찰 조사에서 이상한 반응을 느꼈 릴게임예시 고, 2020년 10월20일 일방적인 퇴직금 입금이 이루어졌습니다.


유족들은 아들의 산업재해 신청을 위해 회사에 근무와 관련한 서류 제공을 요청하였으나, 담당자 ○○○으로부터 본사에 보고해야 한다는 이해하기 어려운 말들을 들었고, 유족에게 직접 제공하지 않던 근무 기록들을 언론을 통해 확인했습니다 골드몽 . 이번에 귀하를 통해 새롭게 알려진 장덕준 CCTV 영상은 유족들이 처음 보는 내용이었고 특히 쿠팡이 정부 기관에도 제출 안 한 일자와 채널의 카메라를 일부 포함하고 있었습니다. 쿠팡이 정부 조사를 방해하기 위하여 CCTV 영상을 자신들에게 유리하게 선별해 제출한 것 아닌지 의심이 되는 상황입니다. 김범석 당시 쿠팡 대표의 “Make sure no not 온라인골드몽 es about him working hard are retained!(그가 열심히 일했다는 내용의 메모는 어떤 것도 남기지 않도록 해주세요!)”라는 지시가 그 의심을 더 강하게 만들기도 합니다. 귀하께서 CCTV 분석 작업에 관여한 만큼, 귀하의 추가적인 자료 제출과 진술이 무엇보다도 중요해 보입니다.

저희는 쿠팡과 수사기관의 이해할 수 없는 행동들에 지난 5년간 답답함을 느꼈습니다. 쿠팡은 계속 유족들과의 만남을 회피했고, 유족들이 필요로 한 자료 요청에는 “본사에 보고하겠다”라는 말만 되풀이했습니다. 그 과정에서 유족들은 무기력과 절망을 느꼈습니다.


저희에게 지난 5년은 지옥이었습니다. 덕준이의 억울함을 증명하기 위해 함께했던 집과 일까지 모든 걸 포기해야만 했습니다. 형과 오빠를 잃은 동생들에게서 세상을 빼앗아버렸습니다. 형을 잃은 남동생은 입을 닫았습니다. “내 전부였던 오빠를, 사람들은 우리 오빠에 대해 아무것도 모르면서 저런 말을 해!”라며 처절하게 울부짖던 여동생의 원망을 담은 눈물과 외침은 아직도 귀에서 떠나질 않습니다.


쿠팡을 상대로 소송을 하는 당사자로서 자료를 공개한다는 게 쉽지 않을 걸 잘 알기에, 부탁드리는 게 망설여지지만, 지금 알지 못하면 이대로 제 아들이 하고 싶은 이야기가 영원히 묻혀버릴 것 같아 정중히 부탁드립니다. 저희에게 세상 전부였던 소중한 아들이고 형이고 오빠였던, 장덕준에 대한 숨겨졌던 모든 진실을 알고 싶습니다. 저희에게는 세상 어떤 것보다 소중한 일이기에 부디 저의 간절한 소망을 외면하지 마시길 부탁드립니다.


한국은 훌륭한 공익신고자 보호제도를 마련해두고 있습니다. 공익신고자보호법 제6조는 ‘수사기관’과 ‘국회의원’에게 공익신고를 하고 증거를 제출한 사람을 법으로 보호하고 있습니다.


부디 수사기관과 국회의원에게 장덕준과 관련된 자료를 모두 제공해주셔서, 쿠팡과 김범석이 한 산업재해 은폐 행위의 전말이 세상에 밝혀지고 제대로 된 경찰 수사가 이루어질 수 있도록 도움을 주실 것을 간곡히 부탁드립니다.

Dear Sir,


I would like to express my deepest gratitude for bringing to light the hidden truth regarding my son, Jang Deok-jun’s death, which had been concealed by Bom Kim until now. My son was found dead in our bathroom shortly after returning home from work around 6:00 AM on October 12, 2020. After Tommy Park, the HR manager of Coupang’s Daegu Center, made an unexpected visit at the funeral on October 13, 2020, our family began to sense that something was amiss during the police investigation. Then, on October 20, 2020, the company simply deposited the severance pay into our account without any prior notice or consultation.


While we were preparing to file for workers‘ compensation claim on my son‘s behalf, we requested his employment records from the company to document his working conditions. However, the manager, Tommy Park, was evasive, repeatedly insisting that ’reports must first be made to headquarters’—an explanation we found impossible to understand. The employment records that the company had consistently withheld from us were only disclosed through the intervention of a National Assembly member’s office.


The CCTV footage that recently was brought to light through your efforts was a revelation to our family; until now, we had been completely unaware of the existence of these recordings. We were appalled to discover that the footage ｉｎｃｌｕｄｅs specific dates and camera feeds that Coupang had evidently withheld even from government authorities. This leads us to believe that the company selectively submitted footage to suit their own version of events, purposefully hindering the authorities from uncovering the truth. These suspicions are only deepened by the chilling directive from then-CEO Bom Kim: ‘Make sure no notes about him working hard are retained.’ Given your direct involvement in analyzing these recordings, your testimony and any supplementary materials you can provide are of paramount importance to uncovering the full truth.


For five agonizing years, we have been trapped in a state of unrelenting despair due to the inexplicable conduct of both Coupang and the investigative authorities. Coupang consistently avoided meeting with us and repeatedly stalled our requests for data by stating they would ‘report to headquarters.’ These past five years have been nothing short of a living hell, as we were forced to sacrifice our home and our very livelihoods in a desperate struggle to prove the injustice surrounding Deok-jun’s death.


For his younger siblings, the death of their eldest brother was nothing less than the collapse of their entire world. Since the tragedy, my younger son has withdrawn into silence, while my daughter’s cries still ring in my ears. I can still hear her weeping in bitter resentment, screaming, ‘How can people say such heartless things when they know nothing about my brother?’ Her desperate shouts and tears continue to haunt me to this day.


Knowing that you are also engaged in litigation with Coupang, I truly understand the immense pressure you must feel in coming forward with this evidence. I hesitated long and hard before asking this of you, but I make this earnest plea because I fear that if the truth is not revealed now, the story my son so desperately wanted to tell will be lost to silence and buried forever. Our only hope is to bring to light every hidden truth concerning Jang Deok-jun, the beloved son and brother, who meant everything to us.


Please be assured that our legal system provides stringent protections for whistleblowers, ensuring that those who speak the truth can do so without fear of retaliation. Article 6 of the Protection of Public Interest Whistleblowers Act provides explicit legal safeguards for those who report violations and submit evidence to investigative agencies or members of the National Assembly.


I earnestly implore you to provide any and all materials concerning Jang Deok-jun to both the investigative authorities and to the relevant member of the National Assembly.


Your cooperation will be instrumental in unmasking the full extent of the concealment by Coupang and Bom Kim, ensuring that the world finally confronts the truth and that a thorough investigation, which is already long overdue, can finally take place.
